Did I Blink and Miss Something???

The Pope has shocked the world by resigning the papacy.  Here's what the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of the Jewish State had to say about it:

Rabbi Yona Metzger said relations between the Vatican and the Jewish state had never been better, thanks to Benedict.
“I greatly appreciate him for his immense activity to interfaith connection that has contributed greatly to the reduction of anti-Semitism in the world, Metzger said.

Did I blink and miss something?  Are the Chief Rabbi and I inhabiting the same planet? He thinks that there is less Jew-hatred now than when ex-Hitler-Youth Benedict XVI donned the shoes of the fisherman? What?  When?  Where?  How?
גירסא דינקתא דבר דלא משתכח
ואם תמצא לומר that somehow there is less anti-Semitism among Catholics than there was ten years ago it has nothing at all to do with the current Bishop of Rome and his putative ecumenical outreach. If this reduction is, in fact, real it has more to do with the growing disaffection among Catholics in western countries with the foundational myths of their faith  than any policies or bulls promulgated by the Pope.  The less frum the Catholic the less (s)he is likely to believe e.g. that Yoshkas body has been transubstantiated into a communion wafer or that , historically, Jews either killed the original Yoshka or desecrated the host to kill him again.
Just as when one moves leftward on the spectrum of Jewish observance one finds less and less of a sense of Havdala בין ישראל לעמים and, consequently,  less fear and loathing of Goyim, the same holds true for Catholics. When a person holds that (s)he subscribes to the one true faith and that those who disagree with him/her theologically are living-a-lie idolaters, infidels and / or doomed to eternal hell-fire there is precious little room for tolerance and Rodney King-esque spirit of "can't we all just get along?"

Meanwhile on Benedict XVI's watch we have witnessed the relentless march of the increasing radical Islamification of the globe with its inherent Genocidal-antisemitism and even anti-X-tianism.  In spite of the Regensberg lecture how much did this Pope really do to help oppressed and  beleaguered X-tians (Coptics in Egypt, Phalangist in Lebanon, Bethlehem and Somalia) in the Islamic crescent?  If he hasn't done anything to reduce ant-X-tian animus how can he possibly have done anything to ameliorate anti-semitism? Stuff and nonsense.

So nice to have you back. Wish my comment would have more substance, but this is not a topic I have familiarity. Blog on.

Good comeback.

Bah Humbug...Such a great comeback that about 5 people have read it and no one has made a single substantive comment on the content of the post.

ווייסט דיך אויס that the benighted J-Blogosphere could , nebikh, not get along without me.

What Rav Metzger said in public is the kind of diplomatic stuff he has to say. What he said to his family over seuda shlishi when he found out, now that I'd like to know.
The problem with the Church and us is that there is a problem with it being weak or strong.
When it is weak, sure things are better for us in the West because the less Catholic they are the more they tolerate us.
But given the moral degeneracy of secular liberalism only a strong Church can stand up to the Islamofascist tide that will be much worse to us than a resurgent Church would be.

No. A strong Judaism can stand up to the Islamofascist tide and the moral degeneracy of secular liberalism in the West. How about Moshiakh coming בקרוב ממש so that JUDAISM can be strong and pan-global and then we can stop worrying about which of our two genocidal blood enemies to root for in geopolitical supremacy????

I dunno maybe its the closeted Religious-Zionist in me that bristles at the "official" religious head of the Jewish State (our "Pope"?????)still having to lick the boots of the Fisherman with this kind of brown-nosing PC tripe more than 6 decades after the Yiddish Medinahs founding.

If we are really still afraid to agitate the Goyim , even verbally, we ought to acknowledge the correctness of Satmar Shita, pack it in, move to Monroe and award the Palestinians their one state solution.

All right, Bray, I am here, and now the party could get started. I will not comment on your last comment but on your post.
O, Woe! אוי לנו שבימינו אירע לנו! Jew-Haters, their hands are dripping with the blood of MahaRam, the Jews of York, Kehillas Shu"m, the black plagues, and more עד אין לשייר. Such black Rishus, degraded confusion, process of priority retardation! To say that the modern winds of smile, of understanding, of peace? What peace? Does the Judeo-Christian camaraderie lie near, remotely near, anything that can be מיושב ע"פ דעת ושכל? How much of an unmitigated gall, a gripping audacity, would it take some Meshumad-loving power-grubbing cloak-donning clown of sorts to kick such a powerful indictment of the 'religion of kindness' and relegate the doctrine, the עיקרים, the infinite attempt of the when-attained coup-de-grace of the Jews?
Peace, antisemitism, what an עלמא דשיקרא. A man who preaches words of Torquemada, Ferdinand of Aragon, Rudolph the Kind, and other Jew-slayers, Haman Bedoram. Moshiach will be one politically incorrect guy, I'll tell you that much.
And don't get me started on the Aguda's infatuation with Jesus. בושה וכלימה

A simple Google search will do. Cardinal Dolan's cushiest chair is very possibly in the World Aguda headquarters.

I disagree with Rabbi Blechs take on the timing of the Rainbows appearance. i don't see it as Divine assent to the כחי ועוצם ידי ethos of "Never Again" but as it always is, a sign of blazing Divine wrath that can only be held in check by the Noahide covenant.

I count myself among those who Rabbi Blech characterizes as "those who refuse to consider the possibility that any Christian, especially its highest spiritual leader, could sincerely harbor any goodwill toward our people. "

I wil say this. Of the two Popes I am more credulous of John Pauls philo-semitism than I am of Benedicts. That said in terms of symbolic Teshuva for millenia of Catholic anti-semitism Auschwitz was a more appropriate מזבח כפרה than the Wailing Wall.
